after a bit of a hiatus.. I'm being prodded to do another RLI.. but I wanted to do something different..since I missed 2008  I've come up with a figyre 8 type course..It does NOT include Shelter Island or the forks.. but does include the west hills, snake hill rd, the seven sisters (adirondack), dune road in westhampton, and some twisty roads south of flanders..and Ocean Parkway..

any opinions?

I miss RLI rallies! Thank you Rob I know you can do it and you have my helping hand. Can we schedule the RLI rally after I'm back from vacation in November? Actually lets see how many people are interested first. I will email out to the membership for the vote if that is OK with you.

it just dawned on me that with some new members.. and new cars  people might not understand RLI.. (and the fact I've not done one for a year or two)

RLI simple means 'Round Long Island.
traditonally we drove out along the north shore.. sometimes went across shelter island and then came back on the south shore.. hence driving aRound Long Island.. (since we dont have a beltway and we do live on an island...unless you are in a boat.. this would be the only way to circle it...)

it IS an all day drive due to the milage.. but as i said  this time I'm doing a figure eight.. and no north or south forks ( cant top the hampton hunt)

 any comments other than Paul's?

 or any questions?

Well, being on all previous RLI rallies the drive and scenery is the main feature of the event. Also the Photo Oddities Tour is somewhat similar and maybe we can combine both? What I am  suggesting is to scavenge/photograph a set of points of interest (with camera or phone is fine) while on route based on assignment list.  Maybe making it little harder by using a riddle to identify the object or point of interest having to have to shoot in a specific direction to include another associated  object which may be behind to qualify? The answer to the riddle would be the name of the object behind or in distance of the shoot direction?

well i was thinking of a fotocgraphic scavenger type hunt.. with the same route, just things alolng the way.. like the supposed pond of mary's grave... etc...Rob  oh  btw  the qucik reply lets med edit YOUR posting
