I have begun looking at minis and thinking I would love one.  I wanted to check out what others thought so I started looking at club websites, I liked this one because I could see what was happening before logging on.  I thought everyone seemed pretty cool and welcoming.  The clubs closest to me need registering first so I joined this one so far to learn more about becoming an owner...to be sure it is for me.  I hope you can help.  I am looking at either an orange convertible or a blue 'checkmate' hatchback.  I'd love some feedback...Thanks.

Welcome Kelly.  Convertible vs coupe-best bet is to drive one.  I drove a convertible twice. The only drawback is the lack of rear visibility-a mega blindspot.

i personally don't really like the way the convertable drives [ blind spot, not as stiff ]. i will tell you go threw the options carfully make sure you understand what each one dose [ DSC , limited slip diff , ] and make sure your getting what you want. if your leaving off something that you plan on adding later find out the cost of part and labor to be sure it's a good idea to leave it off. remember your getting a great warranty so theres not much to worry about. good luck  Let's MOTOR! Shift gears!

Although I love open air motoring, I found that the 'vert made a horrible din with the top up.  I love my sunroofed Cooper, but YMMV.  Be assured that you will most assuredly love whichever model you decide upon.

where is MiniPT or Mystery?  They own 'verts and can give you some counterpoints.

wha.. who? what? ...

oh, Hi!
Yes, I own a 'vert, and I love him to death. That would be my advice, tho.. is to test drive both. The 'verts do have a blind spot. I really rely on the backup beep. I will also one day get a backup camera. I don't think I'd race with a 'vert. I'd like to try my hand around a track with a htchback, tho.

 Thank You!
Well I am loving all the help and responses.  I will be attending my first mini unveiling party on Fri. night  so I will get to look at them again.  I don't know if I will be able to test drive them before, but I am going to try to get there early enough.  My dilemma lies in the fact I own a convertible mustang now, so i love 'my top down'!  However, it was a little unexpected when I was excited by the hatchback...it is a Checkmate with the cutest interior.  Well I will definately keep you all informed.

I live an hour west of Seattle Wa.  I grew up in Buffalo, NY.  My husband is from Wa. so we came out to be closer to his family for a while. It's beautiful...but...the food doesn't quite compare to home!

The food is just diferent... you can get some great fish right out of the sound.  I caught an 18 lb salmon then took it to the beach and BBQd it :-)   I grew up in OR :-)

We almost brought some home on Wednesday...we were there for a family thing.  But we did get out and eat as much as possible and got to go to a Sabres game.
