I love when I post things which are meaningful. I began searching for ways to make my car all wheel drive (R53) and found that Getrag, the company which makes all of our MINI gearboxes already played around with it a bit.  http://www.motoringfile.com/2004/10/23/getrag_tests_all-wheel_drive_mini
http://forums.streetfire.net/showthread.php?t=681
Then I saw some rumors that the new R56 MINI will have optional AWD in 2008.

I do like the getrag setup for the R53, and maybe the R56 AWD might fit in a R53 shell. Then everything would be awesome.  Cheer!

What does everyone else think aboot it?

AWD handles very different..and would add weight. i think a rear wheel drive mini would be cool but AWD not to sure may dull the handling on dry roads.  Shift gears!

the awd r53 that getrag build was a one off proof of concept
mini still has yet to officially announce any awd minis and no details exist on what awd system they are going to use

i would love an r53 awd conversion but i just don't see it happening without some major fabrication work

Hahah, you would need to kidnap Adam for about a year to pull it off.

I'm all about custom fabrication, I just need an inexpensive Mini to play with.
