the getrag in the mcs is German but it is also used in the chevy cobalt
the aisin in the mcsa is japanese and it is the same as the Audi tt

The Cobalt uses the Getrag F23 5 speed. The Cooper S uses the Getrag 285...also used in the Ford Focus SVT...

If it's any consolation, the pre-BMW Rolls Royce Silver Spirit used basically both a 3 & 4 speed Turbo-Hydramatic from GM!
