Hey everyone,

I am posting this thread as an invitation to every MINI owner in and around New York and Long Island, or further if you are willing to make the commute, to bring their cars to the 1st Annual Car, Truck, Cycle Show at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, Long Island.  The event is being hosted by the Stony Brook Motorsports Club in an effort to raise money for the completion of our MINI BAJA vehicle (MINI- hence why our cars are perfect for the event), as well as raise funds towards traveling expenses as we go to compete against approx. 200 other schools in Rochester, NY and South Dakota in May and June.    Please take some time to check out our website and see what BAJA SAE is all about and our program at Stony Brook University.  I will definitely be there with my MINI Cooper S, and it will be a chance for many of us to finally meet.  If enough of us show up, we can probably have some MINI awards!!  Your efforts would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

P.S. Here are the links... 1) Stony Brook Motorsports http://me.eng.sunysb.edu/~minibaja/

It would be really great to see many of you guys at this event, as we have a strong presence on Long Island as a MINI club!! It's unfortunate that I have really not been able to be an active member in the club since the few garage parties I attended last year (which were awesome by the way and thank you Joe and the crew cuz the pulley has just been phenomenal!!).  I have been unbelievably busy working hard to eventually receive my Mechanical Engineering Degree at Stony Brook University.   As you can from the links, my time on the weekends, and even during the week have been devoted to the building of this dune buggy!! So please save the date, APRIL 29TH, and I hope to see many of you there!! PM me with any questions you might have about the event...Thanks!!  javascript:void(0);
Thank You!

Do you mean where I got my MINI? or the name for the vehicle we build?...to answer the second question well its from SAE, or the Society of Automotive Engineers, and they call the event MINI BAJA.  The car is relatively small, being slightly larger and more intricate than a go-kart and it has a 10hp Briggs and Stratton motor, which is what every school's car must run.  As for the second question, I am originally from Westchester and I got my car at Westchester MINI

Didn't you say you were building a baja vehicle from a Mini Cooper? If so, who donated it.
