The lease on my BMW was up and I wanted a more economical but fun car.  I drive 60 miles a day for work and the gas has been killing me.  I looked at the Mini because I loved my BMW and since they were made by the same company, I figured I would like them too.  I was little nervous at first but I'm not anymore...I love it! Whooopeee!

Oh yeah, after I saw the Italian Job, I totally wanted one!  You never know when you have to drive underground in the subway to get away from the bad guys!

it was the original press release pics prior to the US launch ... one pic in particular
this one ... SOLD! (i still want those wheels)

I even placed and original order with Hassel in 02 for an IB/W but when time came for delivery could not pick it up because of financial issues at the time.

and the original campaign with them on top of Suburbans driving around the city had me sold also.

i was coming home from work late one night on the wantagh parkway and this guy in a 3 series bmw comes flying by me (i was driving a 1984 jetta gli massaged over a bit) so i decide to chase the guy and blow by him at about 120mph.  Well i get off the exit ramp, the oil pressure dropped to zero, and when i took off again the telltale clack of smushed rod bearings was all i heard.  So i limped the car back home, threw in a new set of bearings and presto, same rod bearing noise.  A few days later my friend Katie comes by with her leased '04 MCS and i ask her if i could take it for a drive.  Well i came back and asked her what she had done to the car or is this the way it was right out of the box.  2 days later i was buying my own.

Because a Mini is a terrible thing to waste....

ok.. my turn...  Like TEC, i test drove all the hot 4bangers...  Acura RSX-s, vw GTI, Civic SI, Scion Tc (extra i think its called) and the MINI MCS...  well my handle says it all..  My son designed and built the car, he woke up one morning and said i dreamt this car......   we went on the TestDrive at Hassel...  80mph on Sunrise Hwy in 3rd gear and still crying to go more (way more!!!) i will never forget the "ear 2 ear" smile he had (when i looked at him in the rear-view mirror)

Acura, they won't talk, nor will Honda, VW is a bunch of smooth-talking Highway robbers....

It was my Father's day present to myself...

I went from a large FX45 to a moderate sized 1972 BMW 2002Tii to now a 2006 MCS. I like the feeling of able to out corner most cars on the road. I also like the fact that its basically a BMW because i've been a fan of BMWs forever. I thought the FX45 was the biggest mistake of my life and sometimes wish I got a MINI instead back then. I've been wanting this car for more than 2 years! and i'm now a proud proud owner!

I was at the auto show at the Nassau Coliseum in '02.  When we go there, there were 3 classic Minis outside the main entrance.  I always thought those cars were cool and wondered why they were there.  When we went inside, there were some of the new MINIs in the lobby.  It was love at first site.

I didn't test-drive one until '04 (an S).  I drove, and bought, my Cooper in '05.
