I believe we have decided on the 23rd last meeting if I recall but I want to present it for a final vote this coming meeting.

Round Long Island 4

ok   new date is October 14.. leaving between 8-8:30

we should get some nice foliage also...

start as will be Airport Plaza in Farmingdale, NY. near the back by the Bagel Factory. Breakfast (lunch) and more important.. Rest Rooms!!  (see link below for applebee's)

Drive will head up thru the East Hills.. and yes  up Snake Hill Road.. along the north shore out to Port Jefferson where we will have our first... "pit" stop... continuing out on the north fork.. to Greenport and the North Ferry to Shelter Island.

I hope to have a spot for a BYO Lunch on Shelter Island..  only stickler is "pit stops"

afterwards.. take the South Ferry to North Haven and Sag Harbour.. and head  down to the south shore...   heading down to Dune Road in Westhampton Beach..
then up thru Westhampton.. and out with a stop in Mastic at another "pit stop" basicaly a Boston Chicken or some such..

then Highway driving back to Farmingdale and the Applebee's

Basically this has all... twisty beginnings.. hills.. single lane roads... pretty towns.. water scenes.. 2 ferry trips... beach views.. and higher speed highway.. but hey. that's what we have here rt??

ok  we zipped yesterday... back and forth over south ferry.. (cheaper that way.. but not good for ralley) found a place for BYO Lunch  and a route around the island... and no.. we wont just drive straight thru... this time we will go to the island's west side... (and I deep sixed one road.. since it's all dirt....) we will end up at Wade's Beach for Lunch  the Shelter Island Parks Dept will open the facilities for us.

did most of the route coming back... but still not 100% sure of which parkway to take.. (yes   return route is parkway)

 anyway   just a FYI

one more thing..

this RLI4 will be a benefit ralley

for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
http://main.acsevents.org/site/PageServer?pagename=MS_EA_why

we will collect at the beginning or at the lunch stop or enroute... (anyone who wants just to watch us.. is also invited to contribute)

Sue and I do this walk every year.. last year Samantha Kindl joined us in Central Paqrk (it's the week after our ralley)  any others are invited to join us  it IS a 5 mile walk.

I will make the donations to them that AM.

see you all then

For all participants I think the idea, like 2 year's ago, of a donation of an amount at least equal to the cost of one tank of gas.
