My buddy Aurel has a good plan to resurrect the Sunrise Run.  It is a predawn run throught the concrete canyons of NYC, more than likely followed up by a full Irish breakfast washed down by some Guinness,  Here is Aurel's post over on NEMINI, followed up by a link to the brainstorming thread:

Some of you old school NEMINI members might remember these runs from a few years ago where we met at Grants’ Tomb on the Upper West Side of Manhattan at Sunrise on a Sunday morning and basically stormed the City at our leisure.

It’s the best time for empty roads and encountering wacky characters still making their way home from Saturday night, not to mention seeing the city in a different light.

I was thinking it’s time for another …

We would still be meeting at Grant’s Tomb but with a whole new route in mind from the previous ones. Some pothole –free stretches of road allowing for some spirited driving and some more leisurely, laid back “sightseeing” parts … allowing everyone to enjoy the city, even if you have a lowered car

As of now, it would be me and Trevor (dkstone) organizing the affair and we are shooting for
Sunday, September 7th at 6:30 AM for the meeting time!

The run would end at around 10 AM at a dinner (still to be determined) allowing for plentiful parking.
This will be the biggest challenge for NYC.

Also, we will be printing some cool high quality full color tees commemorating the event. It will have an NEMINI / NYC centric design! I already have someone great in the MINI community that agreed to work on the design and printing with a proven track record.

So as this as just more of an interest generating thread, we would like to know 2 things from everyone …

-   Would September 7th work for you?
-   Would you be interested in tees and how many? (they would cost around $13-$15 depending on final amount we will need to print … designs would be posted later, but we are going for a very funky modern look)

Thanks Paul for sending out the email about the run.

We will have concrete plans and dates in about a week or so and will chime back here with details.

It should be a great run ... the city is virtually empty and our own playground at that hour.
Would be great to see everyone!

Thanks to everyone that signed up!

We are close to 40 cars at this point (a bit more than I planned) so registration is closed at this time.

See you at the run and keep an eye on the thread on NEMINI for the usual updates!
