So, I got the car!  I looooove the car!  I need to get the car washed, and the owner's manual and my (somewhat obsessive:)) research online has me a little scared about scratches, flooding, etc......

Does anyone have good experiences to report, regarding local car wash options?  I know, I SHOULD be hand washing this beauty.....but, well, it's not going to happen.  I'm willing to drive for the best place.

Please help me keep my MINI clean.

Thanks!

I own 3 MINI Coopers, 2003, 2005 and 2006 and use the around the corner Cottage Car Wash services in Bethpage http://www.google.com/search?q=Cottage+Car+Wash%2C+Bethpage+NY&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

The place was just build less than a year ago. One special thing I like is that the wheel guides/rails are made out of nylon and not metal so there is less of  a chance to scratch your wheels. This is 100% brush less and hand finished car wash. I'll try to bring some discount coupons to the Sunday 1/11 Club meeting for you. The meeting schedule and directions to the Club meeting place will be emailed out later today.

Thanks BZZZZ.

I could not bear to wait (even with the bad weather coming), so I found a Hand Wash place, recommended by a friend in Whitestone. (12th Road off Clintonville).  The truth is that I would not know a good Hand Car Wash from a bad one, but it looked great to me.  $20 bucks ($25 w/ tip) seems a little steep for regular washing though.....

Bethpage works for me.  I'll look for you; I'm planning on coming to the meeting.  I have A LOT to learn about this car, and I'm happy that this forum exists!

Thanks much!

And what is wrong with washing by hand in front of the house?

because in this season and weather.. your  hands might freeze

I've used a hand car wash on Rt 109 & wellwood in Lindenhurst.. they do a hell of a job

also  for those who dont like putting a car in rails.. there is a wash near me on Bay
Shore Rd  north of the Southern State at the citgo station.. all automated  but no rails.. you drive in and the washer/rinser moves around the car. theere is also one on Montauk Hwy a little past Patchouge.

its worth taking the car someplace that is going to do it by hand, you dont want scratches.
